TOPSFIELD _ The Topsfield fairgrounds is a beehive of activity year-round,
hosting a variety of off-season events open to the public. This fall is
no exception.
There is a farmer's market every Saturday morning through Sept. 22,
from 8 a.m. to 12 noon in the Riverside parking lot. Area growers sell
their homegrown organic, seasonal produce, plants, perennials and homemade
goods.
The Boston Poultry Show will be held Oct. 27 and 28 in the fairground's
Trade Center.
And two popular events that draw big crowds to the fairgrounds take
place in November _ the Nordic Fest, held Nov. 3, and the Wildlife Artisans
Show and Sale, Nov. 9-11, both in Coolidge Hall.
The Nordic Fest is a annual event that features Scandinavian music,
dance and food. The Wildlife Artisans Show and Sale is a three-day family
event that draws woodcrafters, artists, artisans and the naturally curious
of all ages. Besides seeing decoys, ducks, and other waterfowl whittled
and painted, visitors can watch demonstrations of falconry and trainers
work with unusual birds and fowl.
Other activities occurring at the fairgrounds in November include the
Newton oriental rug auction, Nov. 4; the annual Salt Box Gallery fall show
and sale, Nov. 16-18, featuring local artists and artisans and their work;
and the Country Christmas Craft Fair, Nov. 24-25, all in Coolidge Hall.
